Travel notes, ca. 1851.

Two sheets of notes on antiquities in Italy, both with schematic drawings. One describes details of Etruscan tombs found in Tarquinia ("Cornetto"); the other provides numerous observations about a group of unidentified wall paintings in Naples, with special reference to the use of perspective, the relationship of painting to architecture, the illusionism of figures and to color.
